During a national emergency, a natural disaster or a man-made disaster, Lodge #148's Disaster Assistance Unit may be called by the National FOP President or the New Jersey State Lodge President to provide assistance to a law enforcement agency, law enforcement officers and/or FOP members.
Because of the destuction of the communications systems during Hurricane Katrina, many of the officers who remained on the job did not know if their their families were safe and the families didn't know if their law enforcement officer was safe. This had a huge psychological and emotional impact on both sides.
If Lodge #148's Disaster Assistance Unit is deployed to a region during an emergency, we will attempt to provide communications between law enforcement officers and their loved ones. If you need to contact an officer who is in a devasted region, try reaching us by using one of the following methods and we will do our best to relay messages.
Please include the following information:
Your name
Your telephone number
Your e-mail address
The officer's name
The officer's department or agency
The officer's district, precient, etc.
Brief message (due to the large volume of messages anticipated, please keep the message brief)
e-mail us at fopdau@verizon.net
Call us or leave us a message at 609-501-5961
Contact us via Ham radio on frequency ***.*** (will be posted when established).
Fax us at ***-***-****. (will be posted if a fax line is established).
Please be patient with us. If the area that we are covering is large, there could be hundreds of requests. There could also be a large scale outage of cellular service which would cause us to solely rely on Ham radios. I assure you that our officers will work around the clock to receive, send and relay messages.
